Amazon.com Review

This state of the art coffeemaker lets you fine tune the process from filtering the water you brew with to keeping the brewed coffee at the precise temperature you desire. If you're the impatient type you can grab a cup before brewing is complete (or program your coffee to be ready and waiting at wake up time), and if you tend to be forgetful, this appliance has auto shut off. Seems as though Cuisinart has covered all the bases in this deluxe coffeemaker.
Strikingly retro in brushed stainless-steel with black-plastic accents, this 12-cup coffeemaker includes Cuisinart's best brewing technology and premium features for ease and flexibility. The digital clock/timer is programmable for automatically brewing "wake-up" coffee at a selected time and for turning off the warming plate up to four hours in advance. Removing the glass carafe from the warming plate automatically pauses the brewing process for a quick pour, and the warming plate's temperature can be adjusted. For maximum flavor, the machine can be set to brew one to four 5-ounce cups or five to twelve cups, and it includes a charcoal water filter. For convenience, a permanent Gold Tone filter eliminates messy paper filters and an indicator-light shows when decalcification is needed. The coffeemaker measures 14-1/4 inches high, 8 inches wide, and 10-3/4 inches deep (including carafe handle) and carries a three-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

"Great Product" 2010-04-20
By Daniel A. Price (Ohio)
After making due with my Mr Coffee for several years, I decided I wanted hot coffee. This is great, the coffee taste great, the bitterness is gone. Although a little pricy, it's worth it. I was going out to coffee shops for a good cup of coffee several times a week. I stopped doing that because the coffee I make is better. By not going to the coffee shops, this will pay for itself in no time. I do use more coffee to brew a pot because the coffee is so mild and I like it stronger, but I can live with that. I'm glad I purchased it.Cuisinart DCC-1200 12-Cup Brew Central Coffeemaker, Black and Stainless Steel

"No diplay Light !" 2010-04-18

Great coffeemaker!
I recently purchased this coffeemaker and up till now everything works great!
I just have one problem with the design!
The digital clock display does not have a lighted display!
It makes it hard to set starting times! You have to turn a light so you can read it!

"Uummm !!! Finally really good coffee at home." 2010-04-18

Now that I have the Cuisinart DCC-1200, I wake up anticipating that really special cuppa. I actually don't use sugar anymore, just milk, and honestly, love the flavor. The beans that I choose are middle of the road, pricewise. I usually go for a Columbian
or French Roast, looking for richness, and I grind them at the store. They are the same brands of coffee that I have been buying , but with the auto-drip coffee pots (Proctor-Silex, Hamilton Beach, Mr. Coffee) that I have used for years, the flavor was mediocre. What a nice change !!

"LOVE!" 2010-04-17

Had a Mr. Coffee 10 cup programmable for about five years. It was a workhorse of a coffee machine, but it finally had to go. The reason (it is relevant): the hose that carries the water from the reservoir to the grinds came loose, and though I succeeded in reattaching it, it never worked properly again. I'd put 10 cups of water in the reservoir and wind up with 8 cups of bitter coffee and a kitchen full of steam. So I did what any reasonable person would do and emailed the manufacturer for advice on what model to replace it with (preferably one without that method of water delivery). The rep who responded to my email was flip with me. So, if Mr. Coffee makes a machine that's not a hoser, I don't know about it.

This led me to an internet hunt for a coffee maker with a better water delivery system, which led me to the Cuisinart, and after some soul and wallet searching to ensure I was willing to invest in this machine, I finally made the purchase. So far I'm a happy customer, no buyer's remorse at all.

Besides the superior water delivery, what attracted me to this machine was the variable temperature control on the heating plate, as well as the showerhead style brewing system, which makes more flavorful coffee than other drip systems (I remember fondly a Hamilton Beach Aroma model from the break room at work that had a showerhead sprayer and made heavenly tasting coffee - that model's tendency to leak all over the counter, I remember less fondly). The Cuisinart also has adjustable automatic shut-off of the heating plate, a monitor that will tell you when it's time to clean your coffee maker (sweet!) and a 1-4 cup setting that, not incidentally, you can also use to make your 12 cups taste stronger if you like.

This model also has a clock on it. Nice, but not a deal maker or breaker for me.

The reservoir fill opening is fairly small, as other reviewers have noted, but if you take the lid off the carafe (it counter-intuitively comes off backwards) then it's really easy to pour the water in, the pour spout is so well-shaped. There is a small vent for steam release while brewing, but the amount of steam that comes out of it is negligible. The bulk of the water ends up in the carafe where it belongs.

Of course the real test was in the brewed coffee. It took a a couple minutes longer than my old Mr. Coffee, but it was worth the wait. I had completely forgotten how complex a well-brewed cup of coffee could taste. It was also so piping hot that I didn't feel the need to turn the heating plate up from low for a while.

Cuisinart has restored my faith in drip coffee makers. I recommend it to anyone who is ready to upgrade from a basic machine.

"Don't waste your money" 2010-04-17

Bought this on the brand name, but what a piece of junk. The machine shuts off numerous times during the brew cycle or after coffee is made. I have read hundreds of complaints on the same issue, and Cuisinart customer service ignores or denies that there is a problem. Don't waste you money.
