Beautiful? Yes! But, there is more than what meets the eye. We've been looking to reduce the amount of plastic in our household, and spent a good year looking for coffeemakers to replace our little plastic / electric 4-cup special. Being an architect, I'm kind of snotty when it comes to the design of things I'm going to see sitting on the counter every day. We finally gave up on finding a decent, well built, electric element coffee maker with little to no plastic, and started looking at the french presses. This one popped out at me due to the minimal looks, and thermal characteristics.
I've owned and disliked other presses of the glass variety. This one blows them outta the water. It is solid, very well built, makes really great coffee, and yes, it really is that shiny. In fact, a word of warning to all of you who are going to purchase this press- be careful with it in the dishwasher. Don't let all those other scarred pots and pans and plates and spatulas abuse the mirror-like finish on this beauty. It deserves the royal treatment.

Much better than I expected. Someone said the spout was to narrow/small to pour, I've had no issues with it.

I have had this unit for over a year. Keeps my coffee warm and delicious. Glass will break or chip. The plunger is heavy duty. This product is a get what you pay for product. Think of all the money you save by not buying starbucks! Get a grinder, grind your beans fresh and enjoy this well made product!

I bought this French press several years ago and use it every day. It's durable, easy to clean, and keeps the coffee warm for an hour of longer. I think that it is far superior to glass presses, which are prone to breakage.
It makes about 3 good sized cups of coffee at a time, and while I find this is adequate for my wife and me, I wouldn't complain if it were just a bit larger.

I bought this to replace my glass french press, which I had to keep replacing because the carafe kept breaking. I've had it for about 6 months now and I absolutely love it. It looks classy, keeps the coffee hot for as long as I need it to (but I'm usually out the door withing an hour of making the coffee), cleans up easily and, best of all, doesn't break. We put away our automatic drip machine, as this makes better coffee and is actually easier to clean. I'm so glad I got it!
